Overview - Sky Station - Quarters Module

The Living Quarters

What good would it be to live up in the sky away from all your troubles without anything to do up there? Well we had that in mind when we first built the Sky Station complex and one of our main goals was to provide all the comforts a home could bring, but just a couple of hundred meters up! No matter what you wish to use your Sky Station for, you can be sure that most of your needs will be catered for. With more modules to come, the AVpack Sky Station is not just simply another sky box, it is a complete sky lifestyle. With prim usage in mind we have tried to provide everything you can need without breaking your tier. The quarters module itself with its basic features is only 54 prims! That's an achievement on its own considering that you may probably have seen couches or the odd table in Second Life taking up about the same amount of prims. And like most of our gadgets at Space Bums, non of those prims are wasted. Almost all of them have a purpose or are central to the design structure. I hope you have as much fun using your sky station as we did building and tweaking it. It is with great pleasure to introduce you to your Sky Station living quarters.

Sky Neighbours

One of the main features of the sky station is that you can connect to your friends. Often people who live next to each other in the sky make little ramps or lifts or other things to help them link up one place to another. Owners of the AVpack Sky Station will be glad to know that with just one click from you and your buddy you can align your modules so you share the same area. Good positioning of junctions near land parcel borders can make it easy to keep modules on your own land while sharing the sky with your neighbours. Owners of large land masses can make complete huge sky structures or sky hotels to let tenants live in.

Warping

Living in close proximity to a neighbour is great. You can share a game of cards have dog fights in your flyers or chase each other around the access tubes. There may however be times that you need some alone time to watch a movie or build. No matter what altitude your station is set to, your living quarters has the ability to go to the ceiling of scripted objects in one jump. This is achieved by using the same warp drive method found in your iTP, except this method shift your whole living quarters (minus furniture) and you up into the sky. You first need to sit on the station itself to engage the warp drive. This is to prevent you from warping a station up into the sky and forgetting about it. The station will prompt you if you try to engage the warp drive while not sitting.

Custom Sound Effects

The living quarters has a number of cool custom sounds. From the instant it docks to the junction module you hear the metal structures mechanism connect into place. Small computer blips when you touch the rezzer panels to shutter noises and servo sliding doors. Click on the bubble hatches and listen to the pressure equalise as the inside breathable air combines with the atmosphere outside. Throw the quarters into warp drive and you sonic boom to your destination. Jump in your hot tub and relax to the gentle sounds of bubble lapping over your skin. Splash about and listen to the water react to your avatar. The ambient rumble of the AGPS thrusters keeping your station free of SL's prim drift. From sensor sweeps to cupboard doors we tried to find the best effects to give the living quarters a quality feel. Everything from the door switch to blowing the whole thing up with synthesised female computer warning voice, red alert and explosion effects.
